God Answers Tiny Prayers

Our ten year wedding anniversary was September 1stand it has been a wonderful marriage. My husband, Chris is quite the opposite of myself. Where I am high-strung, impatient, anxious and easily discouraged. He is calm, patient and easy-going.

Today was a lesson from the Lord that I will never forget. I have lost a lot of weight since our marriage and my wedding ring, a grape garnet set in a gold band, is too big for my finger, so if I am not careful, it slips off.  I was feeding my Arab horse, Bey Abbi and the two horses she is boarding with, an Arab gelding Ari and a filly named Cinco.

Well I dropped a flake of hay on the ground and my wedding ring slipped off with it! I froze with fear and looked around on the ground, but all I saw was dirt, hay, rocks and Cinco’s curious nose. “Back up!” I ordered. I didn’t want her stirring up the dirt. But everyone wanted dinner. So I quickly threw more hay away from the place the ring fell off and walked over to the place again and looked, picking up bits of hay. The horses followed me back to the spot again as I looked, praying “God help me find my ring.” But all I saw was more dirt and horse’s hooves. “Guys you are not helping.” They looked at me indifferently because they wanted their grain. While the horses patiently waited for the remainder of their dinner, I continued to pray for the lost ring, wondering if we knew anyone with a metal detector.

Then came the reply. “Praise the Lord.” So I started praising Jesus. I wasn’t really upset yet. Just concerned. Usually by now I would be freaking out when something like this would happen. I would be angry or cursing or crying so hard I could not see.  After feeding the horses, I walked back to the spot I had lost the ring, and there was a cleared away spot with the ring just sitting there in the middle as pretty as you please, shining in the overcast afternoon day as if a spotlight were on it!  What was lost was found. Where I blinded I could now see. God works his little miracles in me, even though I don’t deserve it. The Lord had heard my tiny prayers.

I like this, sometimes we need to just step back and look again.
